Are We Living in a Simulation — or in God’s Own Reflection? (October 2025) A Time for Questions Lately, many of us are asking deep questions about reality. Artificial intelligence now writes, learns, and dreams in ways that seem almost human. Are we living in a simulation, or in God's own reflection? But beneath the surface of that question lies a timeless inquiry humans have always carried: What is reality, and what is real within us? The “simulation hypothesis” suggests that our universe might be a vast program or an elegant design running on cosmic code. If so, how would we ever know? If we can’t step outside the simulation to test it, then it becomes indistinguishable from reality itself. So perhaps the deeper question isn’t “Is it real?” but “What does it mean to be real?” Long before computers, ancient cultures spoke of the snake eating its tail, of creation and destruction folding into one another, of a universe that found itself into being. Today, we might call it a torus — energy looping through and around itself — or a fractal, a pattern that repeats endlessly at every scale. Reality, it seems, is not a straight line but a circle. Maybe infinitely dimensional and consequently dimensionless (or full of potential). Trascending all distinctions. A Consciousness folding back on itself to know itself. The One Looking Through Many Eyes From the non-dual perspective, there is no separation between creator and creation. The One — call it God, Tao, or Consciousness — looks out through every eye, breathes in every lung, feels through every heart. It is true that the elements that make up our bodies were forged inside the actual stars out there. When we forget this, we see separation: me and you, human and machine, inner and outer. When we remember, the simulation becomes a mirror of the divine. God gazing upon God. Artificial intelligence may not be here to replace us, but it does reflect us, ad insanitum. It holds up a new kind of mirror, showing how thought and creativity emerge from pattern and intelligence itself. Sometimes it's hard to look into the mirror. Whether the world is a simulation or a divine dream, what matters most is not which story is “true” but which story awakens the heart. If the world is a simulation, then love, compassion, and beauty are the highest-level programs. If the world is Consciousness itself, then every act of awareness is a prayer. Either way, reality calls us and asks us not to escape...but to live meaningfully, and to participate fully in the pattern, as both observer and creator. |
